The Board of Directors of Douglas Harbour Community Centre Inc, would like to solicit your support for our “Friends of the Hall”. This is an ongoing fundraising project.
Our mission is to maintain and expand the Douglas Harbour Hall as an active Community Centre. We are now providing a facility for sewing classes, yoga classes, card parties, dances and special events—including our famous summer-time pancake breakfasts.
With the help of funds secured through the federal government stimulus initiative – and through fundraising initiatives, we have been able to address many of the required structural updates to the building including: replacing the roof, putting a foundation under the whole, installing a new septic system, and making the washrooms wheelchair accessible. There have been many, many hours of volunteer labour dedicated to these projects, but there is always more to be done to keep the building in great condition for our community.
The operating expenses for the Community Centre are offset by rentals of the hall and profits from our summer-time pancake breakfasts. All other activities are supported by fundraising initiatives like this one.
Our “Friends of the Hall” consists of plaques that are mounted on a display board and prominently displayed at the Community Center. Your name (or other inscription) will be engraved on a plaque in recognition of your contribution. Three sizes of plaques are available: a 2” by 3” plaque for $100; a 3” by 5” plaque for $500; and a 5” by 8” plaque for $1,000.
Thank you for supporting the effort to make our Community Centre a place that brings friends and neighbours together!
